In the 1920s, a French cosmetic chemist called Rene-Maurice Gattefosse was developing fragrances in his laboratory when he accidentally burnt his arm. He then inserted his arm into the nearest cold liquid, which was a tub of lavender oil. To his surprise, the pain decreased dramatically and left no burning results, such as redness, heat, inflammation and blisters. He also noticed that the wound healed quickly and left none of the usual scars associated with burns. It was at this point that Gattefosse dedicated his life to researching the medicinal properties of what we now call nature's essential oils. Incidentally, he was the first to coined the term aromatherapy.
Essential oils
Essential oils are aromatic liquid substances extracted from specific species of trees, roots, leaves, fruits, herbs and flowers. These concentrated oils are valuable to mankind, as well as for their pleasant aromas. The healing properties of essential oils have been known since ancient times. From Egypt to India to China, they were used. Essential oils are absorbed through the skin and do not leave toxins like their medicinal counterparts; this is an effective way to use them. They are excreted from the body through urine, faeces, sweating and exhalation.
Medicines and healing through aromatherapy
Essential oils have a proven history of healing and curing many ailments. Acne, burns, insomnia, depression, indigestion, dandruff and cervical cancer to name a few. They may not necessarily cure all ailments, but manage them effectively. The modern medical system has used active ingredients found in essential oils in their chemical manufacturing and treatment professions. However, because they have been chemically modified by science, they leave toxins in the body after use, among other related problems. Essential oils in natural form are much more beneficial to your physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Cosmetics and Beauty
In addition to being able to heal and cure various ailments, essential oils have a varied and proven means to be great cosmetic alternatives. They can be used to make your own line of natural cosmetics that are both healthy and non-toxic in nature. Imagine making a lotion for your body that treats your skin like a pampered king or queen. Cosmetics that will heal cellulite and rediscover the splendid beauty of your hands. The potential is unlimited and very safe. Natural beauty with no high price to pay, only nature's gold mine in your family.
Air fresheners
Aromatherapy also provides a means for natural fresheners and deodorants in the form of essential oils. It creates air fresheners with blends of lemon, geranium, robin's broom and sandalwood. He creates perfumes that are not only composed of sweet aromas, but also of bacteria-fighting abilities. Even soaps can be created powerful enough to beat bacteria, but gentle enough at the same time.
Recipes and food
So we come to the culinary arts. Yes, using essential oils in cooking opens up new avenues for the taste of food. Even the food industry uses this oil to enhance and create new flavours. The only problem is that because they are produced on a large scale, many of the essential oils' strengths are no longer present. However, you can compensate for this in your kitchen. Herbs, spices, citrus fruits and flowers are the essential oils you will use in your cooking. Use them to elevate the flavour of soups, breathe life into vegetable dishes and taste with desserts and sweets.
Pet Care
Still not convinced of the many benefits and uses of aromatherapy? Essential oils help keep ticks, fleas and other diminutive creatures away from your dog for less than their commercial chemical counterparts. They help against your dogs' coughs, colds and flu, become more manageable and disappear with niaouli, eucalyptus and tea tree essential oils. It is not only dogs that can benefit from aromatherapy, but cats, rabbits, hamsters and horses. Essential oils offer many remedies and solutions for caring for your little friends and pets, saving an expensive trip to the vet.
Garden care
Using essential oils in your garden can prove to be a very wise decision. Many commercial garden products, such as pesticides, fungicides or wood preservatives, can do harm in the form of dangerous poisoning, not only of pests and insects, but in the inevitable food you are growing that will end up in your stomach. Beautiful flowers and plants, smelling and touching them, will certainly have a toxic effect, due to the chemicals sprayed on them. This is why it is best to use essential oils as a natural alternative, so as not to endanger your health. The functions of some essential oils in plants before they are extracted are shown to be able to protect against bacteria and viruses. The strong antibacterial and antiviral properties in essential oils are also known to effectively tackle fungi and mould. Essential oils also prevent insects and pests from damaging your garden.
Ancient Miracle
Aromatherapy offers an alternative to toxic chemicals with natural ones. Moreover, they are inexpensive. They are also a possibility to naturally heal your pets. In addition, aromatherapy offers the miracle of effective healing and healthier treatment compared to chemicals.
